This policy is written primarily to comply with South Africa’s laws but includes general wording suitable for international visitors whose data will be used the same way as required by South African laws.

  1. Scope and acceptance

By using our website and services, you agree to the collection, processing and retention of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Users must be 18 years or older to access this website and our services.

This policy applies to information we collect or process when you:

  • Use our website;
  • Purchase products or services from us;
  • Subscribe to our mailing list or newsletters; or
  • Create an account or membership (free or paid).
  1. Information We Collect

We collect personal and non-personal information in two main ways: information you voluntarily provide to us and information automatically collected through your use of our website.

i. Information You Provide Directly

When you sign up for memberships or courses, subscribe to our mailing list, contact us, or engage with our services in any other way, you may provide personal information. Examples include information such as your name, email address, contact details, date of birth, and payment details such as the name and reference on your EFT payment. We do not collect or store card details.

We ask for your date of birth to confirm that you are 18 or older and so that we can send you birthday greetings. Fields marked as required on our forms are needed to create and manage your Account; if you do not provide them, we cannot open an Account for you.

ii. Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our website, we may automatically collect certain technical information through cookies, analytics tools, and similar technologies. This information can include your browser type, IP address, device information, and pages visited. This helps us understand user behaviour, improve our website, and enhance your overall experience.

iii. Information from Third-Party Services

If you access our site or services through third-party platforms (such as payment gateways, social media, or integrated plugins), those platforms may collect additional information in accordance with their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use.

  1. How We Use Your Information

•To provide and manage our services: This includes delivering content, processing memberships, online courses, email communications, and any other services you request.
• To improve user experience: We analyse website traffic, user behaviour, and engagement to enhance the functionality, design, and performance of our website and services.
• To communicate with you: We may send administrative messages, updates, promotional offers, and other relevant information related to our services. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time.
• To ensure security and prevent fraud: We may use information to detect, prevent, or investigate potential security breaches, unauthorised access, or fraudulent activity.
• To comply with legal and regulatory requirements: We may process your information where necessary to comply with tax, accounting, reporting, or other legal obligations.
• To maintain business operations: This may include internal record-keeping, data analysis, research, and improving our products and offerings.

We will only send you marketing emails about TIE content and products if you are a Trainee or Member, or if you have given us your consent. Every marketing email includes an easy way to unsubscribe.

  1. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies to enhance your experience, analyse usage, and improve our services. These tools may collect information such as your device type, browser, IP address, pages visited, and time spent on the site.

At present we only use essential cookies that keep you logged in and make your membership access work. We do not currently use analytics, advertising or social media tracking. If we start using them, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

Types of cookies we use or may use in future:

  • Essential cookies: Necessary for the website to function, such as maintaining your login session or membership access.
  • Performance and analytics cookies: Help us understand how visitors interact with our site (e.g., Google Analytics) so we can improve performance.
  • Functional cookies: Remember your preferences, such as language or display settings, to enhance your experience.
  • Marketing cookies: Used to deliver relevant content or promotions. (You can opt out at any time.)

You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings, but please note that some features of the website may not function properly if cookies are blocked or disabled.

By using our website, you consent to the use of cookies and tracking technologies as described above.

In addition to cookies, our website may use tracking pixels, tags, and other similar technologies provided by third parties to monitor website performance, understand user behaviour, and deliver personalised content or advertising. These may include integrations with platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Google Ads, or other marketing and analytics services.

These third-party technologies may collect information such as device identifiers, IP addresses, browsing behaviour, and interactions with our website. We do not control how third parties use this data, and their collection and use of information is governed by their own privacy policies.

You can manage or opt out of tracking through your browser or by using opt-out tools provided by these third-party platforms. Please note that opting out may affect certain features or functionality of the website.

Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts and may link to or display videos hosted on YouTube. When this happens, your browser connects to Google’s servers, and Google may receive your IP address and browser information.

By continuing to use our website, you consent to the use of these tracking technologies as described.

  1. Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. However, we may share limited data with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our website, delivering our services, and improving your experience. These partners are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

We may share your information with third parties for the following purposes:
• Payment processing: Payments are made by EFT into our bank account, so our bank receives the payment information you provide when you pay. If we add a payment provider in future, it will receive the information needed to process your payment.
• Membership and website management: To facilitate memberships and account functionality through platforms such as MemberPress or other WordPress plugins.
• Email delivery and communication: To send updates, newsletters, and correspondence via our email delivery provider (Telecomputers).
• Analytics and performance: To analyse website traffic and user behaviour if we introduce analytics tools in future.
• Customer support and technical assistance: To manage user queries and maintain site functionality.
• Website hosting: Our website and its database are hosted by Telecomputers, which stores the information described in this policy on our behalf.

All third-party providers are only permitted to process your information for the specific purposes agreed upon and are required to implement adequate security measures to protect your data.

While we take reasonable measures to select and monitor reputable service providers, we cannot be held liable for any unauthorised use, disclosure, or loss of data by third parties acting outside the scope of their engagement or in violation of applicable laws.

Personal information may be processed or stored outside South Africa if required to provide services (e.g., cloud hosting, processors). Where information is transferred internationally, we will ensure adequate safeguards are in place (e.g., relying on processors that maintain safeguards, obtaining your consent, or using contractual protections) consistent with POPIA and other applicable laws. Our website is currently hosted by Telecomputers in South Africa.

  1. Third-party links

Our website may contain links to third-party websites, plugins, or social media platforms. These external sites operate independently from us and have their own privacy policies and terms of use. We are not responsible for the content, security, or privacy practices of such third parties. When you access or share information with these external sites, you do so at your own risk. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party websites you visit before providing personal information.

  1. Data retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including:

  • Providing our services and products;
  • Complying with legal, tax, and accounting obligations; and
  • Resolving disputes or enforcing agreements.

For example, we keep financial records (such as invoices and payment records) for at least five (5) years, as required by South African tax law, and Account information for as long as your Account remains open. Once your personal information is no longer required for these purposes, we will securely delete, anonymise, or destroy it in accordance with industry best practices.

  1. Data security

We take the protection of your personal information seriously and implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to prevent unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or loss. This includes secure (HTTPS) connections, password-protected accounts, and restricted access to personal information.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security and cannot be held liable for unauthorised access or other breaches beyond our reasonable control.

    • Object to processing: Object to certain types of processing, including direct marketing communications.
    • Opt out of marketing: Unsubscribe from promotional emails or newsletters by sending us an email as per the “Contact Us” section below. You do not need to cancel your membership to stop marketing emails.
    • Lodge a complaint: If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal information, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at https://inforegulator.org.za.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@theinvestorexperience.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request, and we will respond within a reasonable time. 1. Breach notification

If we become aware of a data breach that may materially affect your privacy, we will act promptly to contain and investigate the incident and notify affected individuals and the Information Regulator as required by POPIA (where applicable). Our notifications will include relevant information about the breach and recommended steps you can take to protect yourself.

  1. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or the services we offer. Any updates will be posted on this page with a “Last Updated” date.
